Well, things are moving forward toward the national protest on the 4^th of July.  I was interviewed on KVTA 1520 on Tuesday, you can listen to it at http://blog.patriotrevival.com/.  The talk show host is Kelli McKay, and she has been very supportive in giving us a public forum for our event.  If you aren’t quite familiar with the station, it has Fred Thompson in the morning, then Kelli, and then Sean Hannity and Mark Levin.  So, the people listening, are those that might wish to attend the protest.  So that is great news.

We have our first planning meeting on Thursday the 21^st, and it is going to be well attended.

Governor Schwarzenegger must learn that just as we have cut in ways we never wanted to, he must do the same.  The state has picked up approximately 50,000 government jobs in the past few years.  He is mentioning he will have to cut 5000 jobs.  We will welcome those people into the private sector.  I am sure they will have the ability to come up with new businesses, or look for jobs with companies that are now hiring less illegals.  It is not going to be a fun time for them, but it will help our pocketbooks to have fewer government employees.    Our governor completely lied to us when he said he would not raise taxes.   If he had lived up to his word instead of folding to the special interests and the liberal state congress, we would have a smaller deficit.  We handed over our trust to a “Republican” believed to be a fiscal conservative.  He has never stood with fiscal conservatives. 

I listened in last night to a “town hall phone call” with Governor Mark Sanford, and Governor Rick Perry.  They have formed a group called www.thegopcomeback.com . I am mentioning this phone call for a few reasons.  It had about 30,000 people on the line, and was filled with questions.  They formed this group as a result of the concerns expressed by the Tea Party Participants.  They each attended a Tea Party.  They said that the concerns voiced at the tea parties were from All sorts of Americans.  They have great respect for the current state of mind held by Republicans, Libertarians, Democrats and even those that are not “with” any party.  They were encouraging each of us to get 5-10 friends, and to try to attack problems that are important.  They were trying to encourage the grass roots effort to start changing the country from within.  They want people to feel emboldened to challenge others at the primary level.  Their opinion is that it is a good way to get the message out there that we want change, less government, less taxes, less spending, and most importantly we want our politicians to listen to when we speak.  One of them even quoted Thomas Jefferson saying, “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty”.

Both governors have decided to work very hard to insure that the next 38 governors that are elected with be those that are listening to us.  They mentioned that in the Constitution states are endowed with more sovereignty, and that the Federal Government is actually to take a secondary position to the state.  With this current Federal Government, they are pushing aside the Constitution, and telling the states what they must do.   These governors are two that actually stood up to the Federal Government, and said that they are not going to take stimulus money if they can not use some of it to pay down debt.  The government actually wanted them to start new programs that would have no way to have future funding.  It would also leave their debt to be escalating with the compounding interest.  So, they are bravely going against the President on this one.

They asked anyone with ideas to please email them.  They really want to be governors that listen to the people.  Wow, what a concept.  I usually have the people I elected telling me what they are going to do, not listening to me.  If you wish to email a thought, I wrote down Mark Sanford’s email.  I didn’t catch Rick Perry’s.  Mark's is mark@governorsanford.com

Their effort is simply their way to “contact their 5-10 friends”.  It is just that they have more friends.  It is a good thing.  They are working with the concept of the tea parties.  They really are not trying to hijack them.  They had the national leaders of the Tea Party movement listening in, and I would guess that most of the local leaders were also on the phone.  I was proud of them.
